Sacred Bear Soaps is a family business that was established in Telkwa, British Columbia in 2008. The Sacred Bear concept was a collaboration between mother-daughter team, Melanie and Kala Hooker. The business has been made a success through strong family, friend and community support. Sacred Bear believes that strong local communities make strong global economies. We attempt to source all of our ingredients and supplies as locally as possible. If you have any ideas about how we can better support local businesses please email us and let us know.

Sacred Bear also believes in trying to make a difference in our own backyards. This is why we chose to champion the cause for the Kermode Bear. The Kermode Bear is unique to north western British Columbia and is not only a global treasure but significant to our cultural and environmental heritage. Three percent of our profit proceeds as well as soap products are donated to the Spirit Bear Youth Coalition for habitat protection of the Great Bear Rainforest.

Squamish Nation Artist Todd Baker is responsible for our beautiful spirit bear logo as well as the Tree Frog Soaps logo. We have great appreciation and respect for his artwork. He says that every piece develops a personality and spirit of its own and that because of this, certain aspects of the artwork cannot be changed such as an animal's eyes. For more information about him or to contact him visit his site: www.nativeonline.com/toddsbio.html.
